“The manner of giving is worth more than the gift.” Pierre Corneille, Le Menteur

“The manner of giving is worth more than the gift.” Pierre Corneille, Le Menteur

“For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Rom.6 ESV

Most gifts which require sacrifice are of great value. But a gift that requires the ultimate sacrifice is of greatest value. A person may live on less money in order to give more money. But this hardly compares to the gift of a soldier who literally lives less so that others may live more. I wear a cross to remind me of the ultimate sacrifice and therefore the ultimate gift. The “death of death in the death of Christ” and consequently, the gift of eternal life secured by it, are accomplished in that one supreme sacrifice. The execution of an innocent man to expiate the wrongs of a guilty world was willfully given by both Father and Son. All that is left is for us to accept their gift. 9/30/11 Conversations Within ts (Watson Mill, GA)
