We give nothing that is not first given to us. Even the breath we use to give thanks to God is first borrowed from Him. What is amazing and what should motivate us to greater giving is that God regards every gift of love we give to others as a gift given to Him. Remember Jesus' words, “If you do it to the least of these you do it to me.” Our attitude toward every material possession or toward our talents or our time should be like a bowl of mashed potatoes at dinner.
