Giving is the hand of love in motion. But sadly, not all giving is motivated by love. I may give just like I may flatter and both are empty--clouds without rain. Sometimes we give gifts with strings attached or perhaps to strike a bargain--a sort of “I'll do this if you do that.” Sometimes we give for the admiration of others. This is why Jesus told us that sometimes it is best to give in secret. It is hard to give a secret gift with bad motives. God does not mind that we give to receive just when we give “only” to receive. Love insures that we don't. 9/28/11 Conversations Within ts (Watson Mill, GA)
