“Enjoy what you can, endure what you must.” Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

“It is for discipline that you have to endure.” Heb.12 ESV

I believe the purpose of life is simple. It is to enjoy God, and to be enjoyed by Him. We learn to live for God's pleasure, and in doing so, find Him to be our greatest. But this doesn't mean that everything we do is enjoyable. That we are spiritually out of shape and need the strengthening of spiritual muscles usually means training and training usually involves pain. Endurance is needed at such times. Endurance is perhaps a quality only necessary this side of glory but it is certainly necessary in the here and now. Without endurance training will accomplish little; without training our faith remains weak; without faith how can we please God?. 10/15/2010 Conversations Within ts (Cold Mountain)
