Children obey their parents; when they grow up they learn to honor them. When parental authority appropriately matures to unassuming counsel, children who have grown under the grace of command will always insist on honoring their parents, even if they choose not to follow their counsel. Parents are intended to be the initial source of God's guidance in our lives and while this does not last forever it is wonderful while it does. There are few moments of certainty after we leave home where finding God's will is as simple as asking mom and dad. And, though our relationship with them changes from command to counsel the need to honor them never changes. 10/15/2010 Conversations Within ts (Cold Mountain)
