“The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise...but is patient...” 2Pet.3 ESV
Christians believe that Jesus is returning some day. The promise mentioned here is the promise of that return and offers an explanation of why He hasn't come yet. He delays not because He is slow to keep His promise but He because He patiently waits for the last prodigal child to return to Him in faith. I feel certain that those who have already returned should pray for those yet to return if only because it is important to Jesus, not to mention that He has literally commissioned every follower with the task of helping people find their way home. The safe return of every “lost” son and daughter is the family business. There is no doubt that God desires the combined effort of every one of His followers to help light the way home.
