The voice of doubt is often the voice of God for He surely does not want us to do something without faith. Doubt directs. By it the Spirit may be directing us to wait, at least until faith is certain. Doubts within our conscience are often used to convict us that something is wrong. In any case, if I cannot proceed in faith I probably should not proceed. If I question an activity, the fact that I am questioning it may be the only answer I need to stop doing it.
